The Rochester Planning Commission’s August 6, 2018 meeting included site-plan and special-exception decisions, but no government contract awards or purchasing approvals. The commission unanimously approved Pfizer’s proposed 4,800-square-foot warehouse addition at 1200 Parkdale, subject to plan corrections and other conditions, with discussion of a possible future sidewalk commitment. It also approved outdoor dining at 334 South Main Street and at I Chillin Cafe, 107 East 2nd Street. The latter approval included payment in lieu of one required parking space, at an amount established by the city; staff noted that City Council was discussing a possible adjustment to the then-referenced $12,000 amount.

The commission reviewed, but did not approve, a concept for a mixed medical-office and memory-care facility at 1000 West University Drive because the proposed use does not fit current zoning and master-plan provisions; staff will explore possible paths forward. In other development-related matters, officials discussed redirecting an $80,000 developer contribution after a proposed trail connection proved infeasible, and a potential Oakland County source of up to $250,000 for historic or facade improvements through the DDA. No procurement activity was identified.
