The Danvers Accessibility Commission met on October 22, 2026. Members discussed developing a program to connect older residents needing snow removal with local students or youth groups. Discussion covered referrals and sign-ups, privacy and accessibility for residents with low vision, volunteer-hour credit, expectations for responding to requests, and safeguards against landlords misusing the service. A member agreed to contact school and youth-program contacts to explore interest; no funding, contract, vendor, or purchasing decision was made. The commission also reviewed its first Human Library event, which received positive feedback, and considered future formats, locations, partnerships, training, and ways to improve outreach. Members mentioned a new grant and follow-up with the Human Rights Commission, but no grant amount or spending decision was discussed.
The commission unanimously agreed to meet on December 3, 2026, at 6 p.m. in place of its regular November and December meetings. Members also shared observations about inaccessible sidewalk conditions near Essex and Elm Streets and discussed a member’s planned video about accessibility on the rail trail. No procurement activity was identified.
