The Cherriots Board of Directors met on September 24, 2026. The board unanimously authorized the interim general manager to donate one surplus diesel bus to the City of Jervis for use as a mobile emergency operations center. Staff said selling it at auction could have generated approximately $1,000–$3,000. The City plans to equip the bus with a generator and emergency operations technology. The board also unanimously adopted the amended Agency Safety Plan (Resolution 2612) and the 2026 Title VI Program (Resolution 2026-13); staff reported no financial impact from the Title VI update.
Procurement and project updates included a recently signed contract to implement mobile security patrols with Allied Universal, with service targeted to begin in late October or early November; staff also reported that Allied’s takeover of the prior PPC security contract improved staffing and retention. The commuter vanpool program operates under a competitively awarded contract with Commute with Enterprise and is supported by federal grants and agency subsidies. Staff reported purchasing safety-management software and the Evade employee training program. Capital and planning work included East Salem transit-center site selection, South Salem transit-property preparation, and ongoing microtransit and micromobility planning; staff are exploring funding opportunities for a potential micromobility pilot. No contract award amounts were provided for these services or projects.
