The October 20, 2026 joint meeting of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors and School Board focused on school enrollment, career and technical education (CTE), and long-range capital needs. The schools reported enrollment about 3.3% above projections and discussed expanding workforce training, including possible legislative advocacy for increased state support. Staff described CTE grants previously obtained, including $38,500 for a program and $90,000 for an ambulance used in training; a newly hired grant writer had also submitted an equipment grant application for more than $700,000. No grant award or additional CTE budget allocation was approved at this meeting.

The capital-improvement discussion covered aging school roofs, fire-alarm systems, HVAC, buses, athletic facilities, and kitchen equipment, much of which staff said is beyond its expected service life. The boards discussed the condition and potential replacement of the high school track, turf and tennis courts, bus purchasing or leasing, parent drop-off safety, and kitchen-equipment repair or replacement options. Staff noted that school buses now cost more than twice the roughly $95,000 cited in earlier planning, but no contract award, bid approval, or capital expenditure was voted on. Members also raised opportunities to share purchasing and maintenance services between the county and schools and to pursue CTE funding in future legislative priorities; these were discussion items, not adopted actions.
