The Salem Area Mass Transit District Board of Directors meeting was held July 23, 2026. The board received an update from Parametrix on the East Salem Transit Center site-selection project. The study is evaluating possible locations—including property at Chemeketa Community College—and will assess site suitability, develop conceptual layouts and cost estimates, and return with findings and finalist sites later this year. The presentation described project planning and community engagement; the board did not select a site or approve a contract, purchase, or construction budget. A community member also raised concerns and accessibility needs related to a South Salem transit center, but no decision was made on that project.

The board unanimously accepted the preliminary FY2026 fourth-quarter financial report. Staff reported that the district finished the fiscal year within budget; general fund revenue was 101% of budget, operating expenditures were 94%, and capital project fund revenues and expenditures were each about 45%. A board member noted approximately $500,000 in renewable natural gas energy tax credits. The board also heard a September service-change briefing, including schedule adjustments and a new stop near the State Fairgrounds. No procurement award or purchasing approval was identified.
