🚨 Public Safety 🚚 Transportation Physical Infrastructure Regulatory Compliance

At its regular City Council meeting on October 20, 2026, the City of Flagstaff approved several purchasing and service actions. Council authorized purchases from Sands Chevrolet of a 2027 Chevrolet Blazer EV for the Fire Department ($44,143.22) and a Chevrolet Silverado EV for Engineering Transportation ($65,561.12). It also approved a $449,292.15 contract with Santan Auto Partners LLC for nine Ford Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid vehicles, the lowest responsive bid among seven bids received. Staff said the patrol vehicles are replacements, and described evaluating electric options but citing the lack of suitable pursuit-rated plug-in hybrids and adequate charging infrastructure. Council also approved five five-year intergovernmental agreements for regional emergency dispatch services with area fire districts; the agreements formalize existing service and establish a per-call cost-recovery method if state 911 funding is reduced. No agreement amounts were stated.

Council adopted an ordinance authorizing acquisition of property interests for the Fanning Wash Culvert at Steves Boulevard project. It also advanced zoning code amendments, including a proposed cap on certain decorative outdoor lighting and changes to streamline the zoning map amendment process; the latter was intended to address statutory review timelines and reduce barriers to development. A rezoning for the Hidden Haven residential subdivision received its first reading, with sewer capacity conditions tied to completion of the Wildcat Interceptor project. Public comments raised questions about financing for proposed ballot measures and water-related capital spending, but no related council action was taken at this meeting.
