The Town of Stratford Planning Commission met on October 20, 2026. It gave favorable recommendations on two municipal referrals: a potential lease of the Fletcher African American Museum property, which staff said aligns with the Plan of Conservation and Development’s cultural and historic resource goals, and a proposed community garden on town-owned land at 0 Honeyspot Road, consistent with the plan’s open-space, recreation, and food-sustainability objectives. Commissioners also discussed the garden site’s prior affordable-housing history. No contract award, purchase, spending allocation, or specific dollar amount was identified.
The commission received a presentation on the feasibility of planned development districts for Stratford; staff noted that the Stratford Housing Partnership had hired IMEC for the study, but no procurement decision was made. Commissioners discussed possible future POCD amendments, housing growth planning, and inclusionary zoning, and directed that POCD amendments and implementation become standing agenda items. The commission unanimously appointed members and an alternate to the Greenway and Complete Streets Committee, discussed proposed bylaw revisions for later consideration, approved the 2027 meeting schedule, and approved the prior meeting minutes.
