The City of Salinas Measure G Oversight Committee met on October 15, 2026, to review the unaudited first-quarter FY 2026–27 financial report through September 30. The total revenue budget is $36.3 million; transaction and use tax receipts were reported at 9%, reflecting the timing of state payments and July revenue. Departmental spending was 29% of budget, while nondepartmental spending was 8%, largely due to the timing of debt-service and capital-project costs. Measure G funds 117.1 positions across several departments. Reported capital projects included a Sprung Shelter, fire-station renovation and apparatus replacement, street and sidewalk repairs, and District 5 recreation-center and park improvements. No contract awards, vendor selections, bids, or specific purchasing actions were presented.
Committee members requested clearer public-facing updates on current and upcoming capital projects, information on recreation-program participation and outreach, and details about how the city tracks and responds to public inquiries. Police staff discussed continued recruitment challenges, violence-prevention efforts, and the Police Explorer program. The committee approved the 2027 meeting calendar and three sets of prior meeting minutes by roll-call votes; these were administrative approvals, not procurement decisions. Staff indicated that requested follow-up information would be shared with committee members by email.
