The Hudson/North Hudson Joint Park Board meeting on July 21, 2026, focused on county, city, and village recreation plans and a possible Lake Mallalieu Basin recreational area. St. Croix County reported that Erin Bluffins Park development is estimated at about $3.6 million, with approximately $3.6–$3.7 million in county funding and grants approved or secured, including a $900,000 Knowles-Nelson stewardship grant. The county also reported receiving a Land and Water Conservation grant for restrooms, two pavilions, and sidewalks, with construction anticipated next year. County trail phases are in design, and the county hopes to bid them next spring for construction later in the year, subject to state and federal funding approvals. The county described its principal park and trail priorities as totaling about $8.6 million. No contract awards or spending votes were taken.

Board members discussed a concept for a passive park and trail on jointly and individually owned shoreline property, potentially including fishing access, a non-motorized boat launch, trails, and restrooms. The city and village said they may incorporate compatible goals into their recreation plans to support future grant applications and could pursue improvements on city-owned property as funding becomes available. The county said it does not plan to fund or maintain park development on incorporated-area property, but would not prevent the other owners from pursuing it. A possible DNR-funded fishing pier was also raised. Ownership boundaries, easements, access improvements, floodplain requirements, and coordination with the private railroad-property owner remain unresolved; no joint project funding or action was approved.
