The River Channel Public Works meeting on August 18, 2026, discussed a proposed dumpster permit ordinance. Members favored using another municipality’s rules as a starting point, including requiring on-street permits, prioritizing placement on private property, and protecting road surfaces. A motion was made to send the draft to Gina in administration for a village-specific version and coordination with the police chief; the proposal and any fees, including a referenced $250 deposit, were not approved as final policy. Members also approved a motion requesting that the board consider a full traffic impact analysis for Crately and nearby areas, including a request involving WisDOT.
Capital-project discussion included Galahad Road, an estimated $3 million project involving curb, gutter, storm sewers, and possible sidewalks. The village has not secured grant approval and may reapply in 2027; an informational meeting with residents was discussed. The Monroe Street North reconstruction is now expected in spring 2028. Its next steps include environmental and design work, temporary easements, and hiring an appraiser to support negotiations and purchase of a small property area. The engineer also said preliminary numbers are being developed for possible Riverside Drive lift-station upgrades, potentially for next year. No contract awards or final project funding approvals were identified.
