The Hudson Public Works Committee met on October 12, 2026. Members discussed the 2027 Locust Street streetscape design, including seating materials, paving, tree grates versus planted tree wells, maintenance, and lighting. A motion was made and seconded to approve concept layout A, which uses tree grates; the transcript does not capture the vote. Staff will continue design and cost estimating and follow up on options for screening or containing downtown trash cans. The committee also reviewed public feedback on the federally funded Hanley Road Trail project planned for 2028. The grant is expected to cover 80% of eligible costs, with discussion indicating a likely 20% assessment for a new sidewalk segment. No change to the trail design was proposed.
Project updates included a custom railing that is about two months behind schedule; staff noted that the contract provides an option related to the delay, but no decision was made about pursuing it. The city did not receive a TAP grant for Stage Line Road planning, and members supported keeping the multimodal project a priority; staff will contact the Town of Hudson about a potential agreement. The city received an STP urban grant of more than $1 million for a planned 2029 Carmichael Road mill-and-overlay project, including a trail connection. The city expects to cover its 20% share through future borrowing, so the project will need to be included in the 2028–2029 bonding schedule. Waste Management reported that service-related calls had dropped substantially following earlier discussions.
