The Hudson School Board work session on September 28, 2026, covered district goals, enrollment and financial updates, and school safety staffing. The board discussed a possible additional school resource officer (SRO), primarily serving elementary schools and providing backup coverage at the middle and high schools. The proposed SRO would cost about $116,000 annually. Replacing the district’s two part-time campus security officers, budgeted at about $61,000 combined, would mean an estimated increase of roughly $54,000–$55,000; keeping those officers and adding an SRO would cost about $116,000 more. Staff said the position could be funded through the Community Service Fund (Fund 80), which is outside the revenue limit. No vote was taken. Board members requested job descriptions, information on how often existing SROs are unavailable, and a fuller cost comparison before further consideration, potentially in October.
The board also reviewed proposed academic proficiency and student well-being goals, plans to expand industry connections in high school career pathways, and operational updates. Enrollment was reported down by about 148 students; staff said open enrollment currently produced a net positive of about $600,000. State aid is projected to be higher than the July estimate but still substantially below last year. No contract award, bid approval, or other procurement decision was identified.
