🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚨 Public Safety Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

The Hudson City Council meeting on August 3, 2026, approved Resolution 16-26 adopting an updated urban road functional classification, a change intended to help the city qualify for future state or federal grants. Public Works reported that street rehabilitation projects were nearing completion, with paving planned on Laurel, 17th, and Hazel Crest; alley and sidewalk work was scheduled to begin later in the month. The city also plans to apply for a Wisconsin DNR grant to develop a lake-management plan for North Bay, and staff noted a $500 permit fee. No construction contract awards or new project purchasing decisions were reported.

The council approved Resolution 17-26, as amended, to place a fire-staffing funding referendum on the November ballot. Discussion focused on a proposal for nine full-time firefighters and the city’s share of approximately $1,293,200; voters will decide whether to authorize the funding, so the meeting did not itself approve the expenditure. Staff also said an upcoming Waste Management Committee meeting would review the waste-management contract, service levels, options, and potential penalties; no contract action was taken at this meeting.
