Worthington ISD 518 School Board meeting, October 20, 2026: The board approved final authorization to sell bonds for district facility work planned for next summer, including substantial high-school roof repairs, north-wing security doors and storefront work, Prairie School windows, and middle-school rooftop units. The presentation cited an A-minus credit rating and said agricultural-land tax-base contributions would cover about 28% of the project cost; no bond amount was stated. The board also approved a 25-year ice-arena lease and operations agreement, along with related use and finance/construction agreements with the City of Worthington and other parties. Separately, it approved a one-year ice maintenance and scheduling agreement with the city at $115 per hour, unchanged from the previous season.
The board selected CESO to conduct a classification, compensation, and job-description study covering 55 positions; the proposal was reported at approximately $50,000, and the completed report will be public. It authorized moving the existing Trojan Legacy Wall fund balance—just over $55,000—under the Southwest Initiative Foundation to support student programs, with additional transfers to require future board action. The board also approved a resolution supporting an application to the Minnesota State High School League Foundation to access funds for athletic and activity programs; a past return of roughly $5,000–$10,000 was recalled, but no amount was confirmed. A tax-abatement resolution was approved, while the monthly financial overview and assigned-fund-balance discussion did not result in spending action.
