The August 18, 2026 Waynesville R-VI School Board meeting opened with a public hearing on the district’s 2026–27 property tax rate. The administration presented a proposed rate of $2.9021 per $100 of assessed valuation, up from the current rollback rate of $2.8747 but below the voter-approved rate described in the presentation. The board was expected to consider related action items later in the meeting; the transcript does not capture those votes. The board approved the meeting agenda and consent agenda. No new contract awards or procurement approvals, contract amounts, or project budgets were reported. OPA, the district’s current food-services contractor, was recognized for its support of students and families.

The construction update covered Liberty Elementary, the administration building renovation, high-school traffic improvements, Freedom and Waynesville Career Center HVAC work, and the middle-school cafeteria expansion. Liberty’s contractor, RI Construction, continued work while engineers evaluate settling in an isolated building area. The high-school traffic project includes separating bus and parent traffic and adding parking; it was reported on budget and on schedule, with substantial completion planned for November 1. Freedom’s HVAC and roof work, the Career Center HVAC upgrade, and the cafeteria expansion were substantially complete and reported under budget and on schedule. The board also heard the launch of the district’s 2026–31 improvement plan, which calls for connecting budget recommendations to district priorities, and a gifted-program update noting grant-funded equipment and learning activities.
