The Pasadena Rental Housing Board met on August 6, 2026. The board approved amendments to Chapters 5 and 7 of its regulations, limiting required pre-hearing settlement conferences to petitions for downward rent adjustments and making a related change to Chapter 7, including correction of an amortization-schedule reference. Chapter 6 amendments concerning appeal postponements, time-waiver forms, habitability standards, and standards and notice for de novo hearings were presented and discussed; the transcript does not clearly capture the final vote or disposition. The board also discussed proposed rules for rental-unit repairs and improvements, including tenant notice, temporary accommodations, accessibility, emergency work, and possible per-diem assistance. No vote on those proposals is captured; staff was asked to provide further information for future discussion. A May 21, 2026 meeting-minutes approval also passed.

The rental-registration ad hoc committee reported survey feedback on the registration portal and suggestions for improving its interface, instructions, exemptions, payments, and support. Staff said a redesigned interface being developed with 3DI would be presented at the August 20 meeting. No procurement action was identified: the meeting included no contract award, solicitation, vendor selection, or budget allocation. Although staff cited reference rates of $191 per day for hotel rooms and $64.50 for meals, these were discussed as examples and were not adopted as payment requirements.
