Petaluma City Schools Board of Education meeting, August 18, 2026. The board approved capital facilities contracts totaling just over $300,000, funded from bond proceeds. The contracts include a CEQA consultant for the selected Performing Arts Center site and geotechnical and topographic surveys for a six-classroom project intended to replace leased portable classrooms. The motion to approve passed; no vendor names or individual contract amounts were stated. The board also heard that projected 2026–27 Proposition 28 arts and music funding is approximately $1.2 million, with at least 80% designated for staffing and up to 20% for materials, supplies, and training. Larger requests beyond site allocations will go through the VAPA Committee; prior-year carryover is expected to return to the board in September.
Members also discussed fiscal oversight of recurring expenses, including $47,000 in copier overages and more than $300,000 in software renewals. District staff said they are reviewing usage, licenses, and purchasing orders for savings, but no action was taken on those expenses. The board approved the 2026–27 instructional-minute and bell-schedule item; staff will review scheduling data and bring forward further work for a future year. No other procurement approvals were identified.
