The Allegany County Board of Legislators Committee of the Whole met on October 21, 2026, and heard a presentation from the county Land Bank on vacant-property rehabilitation, demolition, new construction, and historic preservation. The Land Bank reported that it is spending a $2 million state grant and expects another $2 million grant round to open in 2027. Its projects include an emergency roof repair for a Cuba property, for which it is seeking quotes; rehabilitation of several Main Street properties; and plans for CrossMod housing, potentially using New York manufacturers Champion Homes or Clayton Homes. No vendor selection or contract award was announced.
The presentation also described a Land Bank board resolution to contribute $100,000 toward an ADA-accessible home project with People Inc., supplemented by a state grant. The Land Bank cited a prior $610,000 lowest bid for a proposed 2,500-square-foot home as too costly for that site and said it is seeking project partners. It discussed grant conditions favoring demolition tied to redevelopment plans, use of historic tax credits, and pursuing EPA cleanup funding for a brownfield. The committee approved its agenda, but no spending or procurement motion was taken during the meeting.
