Iberia Parish Government’s Special Finance Committee met October 19, 2026, for an informal review of proposed 2027 budgets; members were told no votes would be taken. Recreation and Playground Fund staff projected a $3,927,792 budget, including a $360,392 draw from fund balance, and described increased payroll, electricity, and limestone costs, phased park-lighting work, and planned park improvements. Members discussed whether to sell the Isle facility while its debt remains above $2 million and suggested evaluating concrete paths as an alternative to recurring limestone purchases. Sewer and water officials reviewed operating needs, including a new five-year agreement with New Iberia for wastewater-related services, projected repair and maintenance spending, replacement of a 2012 truck, and a $10,000–$15,000 annual allowance for on-call and overtime pay. They also discussed studying Port of Iberia sewer rates, possible water-system growth and impact fees, and coordination on future infrastructure funding; no rate changes or awards were approved.
Other capital and facilities topics included a proposed $100,000 building improvement at the ARI water plant; an airport budget of $150,000 for a tractor and bush hog and $15,000 for wayfinding signage; and potential airport land development for another hangar. The Acadiana Fair Grounds discussed seeking $1.4 million in state Capital Outlay funding for facility upgrades. Public Buildings staff reviewed significant repair needs, including $250,000 for Veterans Memorial Building improvements, and members asked the administration to explore consolidating or reducing underused facilities. The royalty fund included $2.1 million for coastal restoration, while members noted uncertainty around future royalty and mitigation funding. No procurement awards, spending motions, or votes were recorded; follow-up discussions included the Port rate analysis, grant and funding opportunities, and veterans’ facility needs.
