Planning, Zoning & Agriculture Committee Meeting 10/20/26

The Kankakee County Board Planning, Zoning & Agriculture Committee met on October 20, 2026. The committee unanimously approved awarding the elevation contour mapping services bid to the lowest responsible bidder, Bowman Consulting Group Limited, for $28,952. The other proposals were Halo Geospatial ($31,500), Horn Reimann Shippen ($89,400), and Kucera International ($245,000). The mapping will update county elevation data using lidar and combine it with the 2024 hydrographic survey. The committee also approved a comprehensive safety action plan focused on roadway safety. The plan establishes eligibility to pursue Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants and identifies potential safety projects, but no grant application or project funding was approved at this meeting.

The committee approved special-use permits and variances for redevelopment of the former Fairview Courts Motel as boarding-house and multifamily lodging; the proposal includes rehabilitation of the property and use of its existing septic system pending possible future sewer extension. Members also received building-permit activity and an MS4 stormwater-program update. No other procurement awards or spending actions were identified.
