At its October 20, 2026 meeting, the Medina County Commissioners approved resolutions authorizing the county engineer to purchase a new trailer and approving the final change order for the 2026 county and township pavement-marking project. They also approved four sanitary-engineering resolutions, including change order No. 2 for the Backdoll Branch Road water-main improvement project, an agreement with Aqua Backflow to manage the county’s backflow-prevention and cross-connection-control program, sewer work associated with the South Huntington Street Bridge replacement, and a water and sewer rate-structure resolution. Commissioners discussed affordability and directed that options for a future homestead component be analyzed; no specific contract or project amounts were stated for these items.

The commissioners approved budget and grant-related resolutions, including Ohio Department of Public Safety grants of $46,341.60 for traffic enforcement and $43,841.60 for impaired-driving enforcement, a $257,421.58 Ohio Department of Youth Services grant for juvenile detention center capital improvements, and weekly bills totaling $2,266,683.77. They also approved a lodging-tax code amendment shifting administrative and enforcement responsibilities to the commissioners’ office; discussion described plans to contract with a consultant to help collect lodging taxes, including from short-term rentals. Economic-development staff reported on existing grant and financing activity, including a $2.3 million Welcome Home Ohio award and a $1.9 million PACE-financed renovation. A possible county match toward a $250,000 transportation-corridor planning study was discussed, but no funding decision was made. Public comment raised concerns about Flock surveillance cameras; the commissioners took no action on that issue.
