The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners meeting was held October 20, 2026. The board approved a $3 million budget transfer for the first phase of an airport project to connect Concourses A, B, and C through the main terminal, including concession relocation and security-checkpoint improvements. It also approved a resolution to pursue refunding airport bonds if market conditions meet the county’s 5% savings threshold; staff said the potential savings were about $200,000 annually, but current market conditions were unfavorable. The board directed staff to report on the opportunity at a future budget workshop. For North County Airport, commissioners voted 7–0 to have staff develop an RFP for a complete package that includes the potential sale of approximately 131 acres and airport development opportunities. This followed discussion of Jet Green LLC’s unsolicited proposal, an appraised land value of roughly $29–31.5 million, and a proposed 40-acre FBO lease; no sale or lease was approved. Staff will return with a competitive process and recommendations, including consideration of FAA requirements and airport infrastructure needs. The runway extension is currently estimated at about $35 million, though design is incomplete.
The board also considered a proposed $150,000 contract with Space Connect Foundation to support small-business readiness and connections to contracting opportunities. Commissioners discussed the lack of an RFP and a potential advisory-board conflict; staff reported the member involved had agreed to resign. A motion to approve was made, but the transcript does not clearly capture the final vote. Separately, commissioners approved five Youth Services Department contract agreements (items 5G1 A–E) by a 7–0 vote; the discussion noted that the Children’s Services Council had stepped in after a county budget reduction. The airport RFP direction represents the clearest future vendor opportunity discussed and favors a competitive solicitation over proceeding directly with the unsolicited proposal.
