County Board Meeting - Monday, October 19, 2026

At its October 19, 2026 meeting, the Effingham County Board approved the remaining consent agenda, including a probation vehicle purchase, an application for IDOT capital funding for vehicle cameras and a maintenance vehicle at the Effingham maintenance facility, and economic-development actions involving revolving-loan funds. The board approved a $35,000 loan disbursement to S&K Ventures and, after discussion about the business’s county location and job requirements, approved a $40,000 disbursement to James Auctions LLC. The stated use for the latter funds included equipment and trailers; the program requires one job to be created or maintained per $15,000. The board also approved releasing an RFP for contracted fuel services at FGM Regional Airport, with proposals to be opened November 4 and a final award planned for November 16. The RFP may invite vendors to offer fuel, equipment, branding, and related systems.

The board voted to lay over the FY2027 budget for approval; the projected budget position was $132,275 positive after a $40,000 grant revenue entry was removed. Discussion of the FY2026 levy was deferred pending additional information, including liability-insurance costs. Other business included approval of a delinquent-property resolution for a small parcel with an $850 payment, and updates on transportation grant activity and regional workforce-training equipment needs. No contract award was made for the airport fuel RFP at this meeting.
