The South Pasadena Cultural Heritage Commission’s regular meeting on October 15, 2026, included several historic-property decisions and a presentation on state housing law. The Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness for an addition at 1129 Windsor Place, conditioned on an 8-foot-6-inch second-floor plate height and wood windows and siding. It denied an appeal seeking approval to replace the wood shingles at 1917 La France Avenue with fiber-cement or engineered-wood products, finding the required historic-preservation findings could not be made. For the city-owned golf-course property at 1055 Lohman Lane, commissioners supported pursuing local landmark designation and approved demolition of the existing clubhouse subject to its replacement with a centrally located clubhouse and required review. Both golf-course motions passed unanimously; a two-member landmark subcommittee was also formed.

The golf-course discussion noted that the City Council had approved a lease in July with GC Royal Seco LLC, operating as Grass Clippings, for redevelopment and operation of the course; future improvement and replacement-clubhouse applications will require review. No new contract award or procurement was approved at this meeting. During general public comment, a speaker advocated for the proposed $80 million Measure SOS street-repair bond, which was headed to voters, but the Commission took no action on it. Staff also outlined SB 79, a state law affecting development near transit, and the City’s ongoing implementation steps.
