Lewis County Board of County Commissioners business meeting, October 20, 2026. The board issued a call for bids (Resolution 26-422) for one or more pursuit-rated SUVs and four-wheel-drive pickups, with bids due November 4 at 1:15 p.m. It also added Resolution 26-429 concerning the county fire-alarm engineering project, following an earlier approval of a request for qualifications. Resolutions 26-424 through 26-428 passed 3-0: these included declaring 22 items surplus; amending the state Recreation and Conservation Office grant for Blue Creek at Spencer Road fish-passage habitat restoration design by $105,125, bringing total funding to $700,833; a FEMA alternate-project item assigning Public Works a lead role in project management and contract administration; and a sole-source, one-year renewal purchase order with Bright for the sheriff’s GTAC cloud storage system used for body-worn-camera footage.

The board also discussed Resolution 26-420, an agreement associated with a proposed road vacation and required engineering work. After questions about the agreement’s terms and neighbor support, a motion was made and seconded to deny the resolution; the transcript does not capture a vote on that motion. County counsel recommended revising the agreement and bringing it back in about three weeks to a month. Public comment raised concerns about evacuation access, turnaround space, school-bus safety, and traffic on North Fork Road and Peterson Road.
