The DeKalb Central Schools Board of Education special meeting was held October 20, 2026. The board approved changing its employee health insurance arrangement to Lutheran Preferred with Drexi as the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), following a presentation by adviser Brown & Brown. The recommended arrangement included the Three Rivers network and SunLife stop-loss coverage; the current stop-loss threshold is $75,000. The presentation cited a projected maximum plan cost of about $7.1–$7.2 million, compared with roughly $6.5 million under the current plan, and described the increase as approximately 10.5%. The superintendent said premium recommendations were not final and would be discussed with the union. RX Protect is expected to remain in place until the new arrangement begins January 1; the board’s motion to change the plan passed.
The board also adopted the 2027 budget, tax rates, and levies; the total budget presented was $49 million. It approved a capital projects resolution based on an estimated $895,000 for the three-year period, and approved a resolution to transfer appropriations between line items within a fund for 2026. The administration estimated acquisitions at about $845,000 and said no new buses were planned in the current rolling three-year plan, pending further consideration of state funding and future costs.
