The Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board met on September 9, 2026. The main procurement update concerned fountain repairs: the City received three plumbing bids and awarded the work to the low bidder for $19,900. The plumbing contractor was expected to begin that week. The Board had previously approved up to $25,000 for related repairs; a quote for masonry and grout work from Johnson Masonry was still pending. For the pump house, the site plan had been approved and the City had met with contractors and the chief building official. A board member disclosed that their company had been selected as construction manager. The City’s goal is to replace the roof and dry in the building before winter, though the initial phase was still subject to City Council approval and no contract amount or schedule was reported.
The Board also discussed a draft historic nomination report for an airport building, whose future is uncertain and which may be demolished, and possible grant support for preservation work. Members revisited the demolition-by-neglect ordinance, which had previously failed after a 5–4 vote in favor and a mayoral vote that created a tie; they discussed potentially returning it to strategic planning. No new vote on that ordinance or other procurement action was reported. The Board reviewed historic-district requirements that could apply to fencing or other site changes, including a certificate of appropriateness and, for a taller fence, a variance process.
