The Town of Barnstable Town Council Subcommittee for Appointments met on October 19, 2026, to interview candidates and consider appointment recommendations. The committee interviewed Franklin Haskell for the Infrastructure and Energy Committee, Rick Livingston for the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, and Gina O’Connor, who expressed interest in accessibility- and disability-related service. Members spoke favorably about the candidates, but no appointment vote was taken on these three interviews. O’Connor was told there were no current vacancies on the Disability Commission or Golf Committee, and staff will retain her application for a future opening; the Elderly and Disabled Taxation Aid Committee was discussed as a possible fit.

The committee unanimously recommended Mary Berry for reappointment to the Planning Board and Brenda Lee for an alternate position on the Historical Commission. It agreed to leave Airport Commission openings open for a few more weeks while awaiting expected applications, and to revisit a potential move of a Zoning Board of Appeals associate member to a full position after contacting the board chair. Members also unanimously approved corrected meeting minutes. Public comment urged the committee to consider the diversity of town residents’ views when making appointments. No procurement or spending activity was identified.
