The City of Norwalk Ordinance Committee met on October 20, 2026. Members discussed a proposed revision to Chapter 55, the demolition-delay ordinance, with representatives of the Historical Commission. Topics included retaining the 50-year review threshold, expanding nearby and online public notification, who may file an objection, how third-party reviews would be funded, and clarifying fines for violations. No vote was taken on the proposal. The Law Department will review the authority and enforceability of penalties, collection procedures, and the legality of third-party review costs, and will provide guidance to the committee. The committee also requested clarification on objection procedures and related questions before further consideration. The September 15 meeting minutes were approved unanimously.

Under new business, staff presented a proposed Chapter 98 traffic amendment concerning blocking intersections, related to the Wall Street project and a proposed change to traffic flow on High and Night Streets. The presentation described a roughly $30 million investment in the Wall Street neighborhood and proposed a “Do Not Block Intersection” restriction on Route 1; the transcript ends before committee discussion or action is recorded. No contract award, bid approval, or other procurement decision was identified.
