The City of Norwalk Traffic Authority met on October 19, 2026. The commission unanimously approved proposed road closures for the Rowayton holiday stroll and the Jingle Bell 5K. It also unanimously approved reversing the one-way direction on Rogers Square, part of the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s ongoing drainage and streetscape project around the cemetery. Staff said the change is intended to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow, with new crosswalks, sidewalks, curb ramps, and expanded passenger loading areas. A resident asked the commission to postpone the vote, citing concerns about sightlines, neighborhood notification, and access to project plans; staff described outreach to nearby residents and businesses and said the changes had been reviewed by the state and coordinated with affected facilities. The project was expected to remain on track for completion by the end of November.
The commission also approved the September 24 special-meeting minutes. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
