The City of Kalamazoo Historic District Commission met on October 20, 2026, to review exterior work applications. It approved work at 704 Oak with the specification that the porch gable use scalloped siding; approved a new accessory dwelling at 1417 Academy, which exceeds the stated 950-square-foot zoning limit and may require a variance; and approved retroactive window work at 613 Douglas, with one commissioner voting no. The commission also unanimously approved replacing a shower window with glass block at 206 Woodward. Building permits were discussed for the window projects, and a commissioner recommended that the building inspector check the header at 613 Douglas. No contracts, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.

In the coordinator’s report, members were encouraged to follow proposed changes to the federal Section 106 review process; no adopted policy change or commission action on the proposals was reported.
