At its October 20, 2026, board meeting, the Carver County Board of Commissioners approved restoring the 2027 aquatic invasive species (AIS) program after state aid was cut in half, from about $140,000 to $70,000. The plan keeps the program largely intact and draws on $70,000 in county levy funding, approximately $89,000 from the Carver County Water Management Organization, and $15,000 in lake-association contributions; staff also planned further discussions with Chanhassen about possible additional support. The motion to restore the funding passed. Staff will return with a revised AIS strategic plan and continue pursuing partner contributions and grants.

The board also approved, 4–1, an amendment to the county’s agreement with Citywide Facility Services to expand contracted custodial services, at a cost not to exceed $84,540 annually. The change covers additional areas of the Government Center and the Chaska License Center, with specified exclusions including the Sheriff’s Office. Staff estimated eliminating two positions would save $173,834, for net annual savings of $89,294; implementation was expected in November, subject to collective-bargaining provisions and contract review. Board members and employees raised security and staffing concerns, and the county said facility access would require background checks and that the vendor is insured. The administrator also reported that a Three Rivers Park joint powers agreement was being prepared for possible board consideration on November 3.
