The South Lyon Community Schools Board of Education meeting was held October 21, 2026. The board approved September bills and unanimously approved a $2,259,281 contract-award package for South Lyon East High School pool upgrades and stadium scoreboard replacement. The package included awards to Innovative Energy Controls ($84,760) for scoreboards, Contrast Mechanical ($849,000) for HVAC/mechanical/plumbing, Amcom ($203,345) for electrical, Advance Pool Services ($530,050 for pool equipment and piping and $260,000 for pool coating), and other trade contractors. The lowest apparent electrical bidder was not selected because its bid scope was incomplete. The board also approved the South Lyon Transportation Association bargaining agreement and accepted gifts; no dollar amount for the agreement was stated.
Administrators presented recommended roof awards for Dolsen Elementary ($1,129,000 to Let’s Roofing), Kent Lake Elementary ($698,300 to MTD Construction), and Millennium Middle School ($1,254,448 to Royalty Roofing USA/Division 7), plus a $200,000 shared contingency, for a total of $3,281,748. The transcript does not show a board vote on these recommendations. Other capital and purchasing updates included a planned furniture purchase for the administration building through cooperative purchasing, and the upcoming Bartlett ECC renovation, for which staff expect to seek authorization in November to negotiate a city-lot easement. The board received a 2025 bond-program dashboard and project preview. Administrators also discussed seeking school-safety and mental-health funding—estimated at about $600,000 for mental health and $1.2 million for safety—with a waiver resolution expected for board consideration in November. The Education Foundation reported up to $25,000 available for its next grant round.
