Strongsville City Schools community town hall, October 20, 2026: Superintendent Cameron Hyman and board members discussed Issue 9, a proposed 6.7-mill, five-year operating levy on the November 3 ballot. They said the levy would combine a renewal and new revenue, with collections beginning in 2027 if approved. The district cited a $9.7 million annual revenue loss after previous levy failures and described approximately $5 million in staff reductions already implemented or planned. If Issue 9 fails, officials said further reductions of about $13.9 million would be needed, potentially affecting staffing, transportation, food service, student supports, courses, extracurricular activities, and athletics. The presentation also noted that a state law bars school districts from using a “renewal plus” ballot format, which officials said affected how the levy language was presented.

The district said it had transferred the remaining $16.1 million from a capital-improvement account to its general fund to extend financial stability by about a year. The account had previously supported projects including school roofs and HVAC work, and had funds allocated for athletic facilities. No new contract awards, vendor selections, purchasing approvals, or procurement votes were identified; the meeting focused on the levy and district finances.
