🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 🚚 Transportation Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

At its October 20, 2026 session, the Geauga County Board of Commissioners considered several procurement and funding matters. The board approved a final change order decreasing RAK Paving Inc.’s Bass Lake Road resurfacing contract by $24,714.55, and approved a $11,477.40 change order for the Merit Road sanitary sewer extension with Grade Line Inc. It also approved a Water Resources emergency excavation and repair service contract not to exceed $25,000. Reported payment vouchers included $93,198.13 to FCO Excavating LLC for the Petty Bone Road Bridge Replacement Project and $85,894.26 for annex masonry restoration and roof replacement.

The board voted to reject the sole bid from Murphy Contracting Company for the Burton Public Library elevator modernization project because the advertised estimate in the bid documents was incorrect; staff plans to correct the documents and rebid, with CDBG and library funds expected to cover project costs. It also approved rejecting Continental Hospitality Holdings’ food-and-beverage concession proposal and revising the solicitation to allow a three-year contract. Commissioners supported pursuing an ODOT-administered FTA Section 5310 grant for three transportation vehicles, estimated at $342,368 with a $68,474 local match; the application had not yet been awarded or budgeted. The board reviewed the draft opioid-settlement funding RFP and indicated it could proceed toward publication. A facilities-planning discussion covered courthouse assessment and renovation sequencing, potential funding sources, and how a previously discussed $750,000 allocation could affect the five-year maintenance plan; no construction award was made.
