The Wayne County Commission Ways & Means Committee met on October 20, 2026, and approved the minutes and a motion covering budget adjustments listed as items 1–14. The adjustments included certifying revenue for the Third Circuit Court’s backlog-reduction grant, originally awarded at $2,573,330 by the U.S. Department of Justice, and reallocating $289,733 for the Child and Parent Legal Representation Grant from federal to state revenue. Other adjustments covered health-fund revenue, a small grant-funded investigation of a lettuce outbreak, election-security alarm expenses, and technology purchases. The committee also heard that funds would support furniture and Wi-Fi upgrades at the HAB building for emergency preparedness, and a separate item involved five computers and related supplies.

The committee discussed a roughly $2.7 million general-fund adjustment for underbudgeted procurement-related contract services, including references to Aon/A1 consulting, PCG, and Inside Global. No new contract award or vendor selection was presented; members requested a breakdown of the contractors, amounts, and services, which staff said they would provide. Members also discussed whether surplus county computers could be donated rather than auctioned, and asked for legal review and consideration of an ordinance or program; no policy change was adopted. Other requested follow-ups included written information on AED training and a report on the lettuce-outbreak investigation.
