The White Plains City School District Board of Education’s regular meeting on October 13, 2026, began with the fiscal year 2026 audit. The external auditor issued an unmodified opinion and reported no material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, or current-year recommendations. The district reported $212.5 million in net capital assets and $53.6 million in bonds payable; the auditor also noted a $415.8 million retiree health-care liability. Board members said the district’s strong financial position helped reaffirm its A rating with Moody’s and contributed to an oversubscribed bond offering, lowering the effective interest rate and borrowing need. The board accepted the annual financial statements, extracurricular activities funds statement, management letter, and corrective action plan.
The board approved several donations, including $3,600 for a monthly giving program, $2,330 for 20 ukuleles, $1,170 for a senior Wall Street trip, and $3,682.81 from the White Plains Middle School PTA for an eighth-grade trip T-shirt initiative; it also accepted a scholarship and a donated camera and lens. The board approved the 2026–27 district planning calendar and the 2027–28 budget-development calendar, and authorized staffing changes, including positions for a new self-contained class. Officials discussed ongoing performance reviews with Durham School Services, the district’s transportation provider, but no transportation contract action or other vendor award was identified. A LinkIt data platform was discussed as being rolled out gradually, without a purchasing decision reported.
