The North Salt Lake City Council meeting on October 20, 2026, included a work session on the draft Hillside Trails Master Plan and approval of FY 2026–27 budget amendments. SE Group presented recommendations for trail maintenance, new and decommissioned routes, wayfinding, and phased implementation; the plan was for discussion only, with adoption deferred for further review. The consultant provided planning-level construction estimates of about $2–$12 per linear foot, and staff said future trail improvements could rely substantially on grants. A proposed neighborhood trail access on Forest Service land would require permits and environmental review; its cost and funding are not yet established, though staff anticipates seeking grant support with a possible city match.
The council approved Resolution 2026-50R amending the budget, including a $16 million transfer from debt-service reserves to the parks capital fund for Hatch Park, a $250,000 capital-projects-to-parks transfer, and $405,000 from water operating to water capital. Other items included $107,000 for the Gary Way waterline replacement, a $460,000 grant-funded sidepath construction budget entry associated with the Pacific and Overland project, and $30,000 shifted to contract labor with no net spending increase. The consent agenda was also approved, including a bid award for the David Way slope-reinforcement design package; the transcript gives no award amount or vendor. The council also approved the Walker Ridge Townhomes general development plan, but no procurement award was discussed.
