At its October 19, 2026 meeting, the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation Board discussed two proposed business-support grants under the Downtown Pilot Program. The reinvestment grant would support permanent building improvements, including eligible façade work, storefront windows, and sprinkler systems—not tenant equipment. Staff said it was generally on track pending legal and procedural work. The proposed emergency stabilization grant could provide up to $10,000 for qualifying one-time emergencies, potentially including rent, utilities, or payroll; staff and the board discussed questions about compliance with Texas Local Government Code §505.158, eligibility criteria, and budget capacity. The board expressed direction to continue developing both programs, with separate, more focused workshops and further legal review, particularly for the emergency grant. No grant awards or funding allocations were approved at this meeting.
The board passed Resolution 2026-13, granting preliminary approval for subdivision of property at 1500 Business Park Drive in the Bastrop Business and Industrial Park, allowing the owner to pursue a sale of part of the property to its tenant. The property has three buildings on approximately 4.5 acres; the proposed sale concerns the building primarily used by the tenant. The subdivision remains subject to city development, zoning, and other required processes. The tenant was reported to be considering a move to Dallas if the sale cannot proceed.
