The Windsor Board of Education’s regular meeting on October 20, 2026, included discussion of the district’s year-end finances and upcoming budget needs. The board authorized creation of a non-lapsing education account and, in a separate unanimous 9–0 vote, approved depositing approximately $337,319.40 of fiscal year 2025–26 funds into it, subject to final audit and statutory limits; approximately $224,879.60 is to revert or otherwise be made available to the Town of Windsor. The account may be used only for educational purposes, with each expenditure requiring board approval. Potential needs discussed included major maintenance and special education costs. The board also unanimously ratified a collective bargaining agreement with UPSEU Local 424, Unit 103, representing custodial, maintenance, food service, and safety-monitoring employees; no contract value or term was stated. No competitive procurement, vendor selection, or bid award was approved. A resident raised repeated missed or delayed stops on DATCO bus route 10 and asked the district to clarify its transportation-failure response process.
The superintendent reported $20,715 collected in fall sports participation fees, with about $1,800 outstanding, and noted that annual revenue is expected to fall short of the $203,000 reduction in the athletic budget. The district will stop charging admission to most sports after the fall season, retaining charges for football and basketball. The high school program of studies passed its first reading 8–0–1, and the board approved the pre-calculus and K–2 art curricula after waiving a second reading. The board also approved the superintendent’s 2026–27 goals and evaluation framework and approved an employee sick-leave extension.
