The Burlington Select Board met on October 19, 2026. Procurement- and spending-related discussion included an update on a $75,000 grant to plant 40 trees in identified heat-hotspot and residential areas; planting was scheduled for November, with grant funding covering weekly watering for two growing seasons. Staff also reported that two dynamic speed display signs had been ordered for Cormier Road. The Board discussed a proposed process for future sign requests, including traffic-study criteria and the need to identify ongoing funding through capital budget planning, but took no vote on that process. The Board approved, 4–0, a grant of location to NSTAR, doing business as Eversource, for approximately 75 feet of conduit on Second Avenue to serve charging stations in the Wegmans parking garage at 53 Third Avenue.
The Board also approved, 4–0, AMC Burlington 10’s request to extend its operating hours from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. from December 17, 2026, through January 3, 2027. Staff reported that the LIFT transportation program remains within budget following a prior $100,000 budget increase and revised ride limits; officials said more data is needed before considering further changes. Best Buy’s midnight-release request was tabled because no representative attended. Other actions included personnel appointments and promotions, liquor-license-related approvals, and an update on health-insurance rates; no additional contract awards or bid approvals were identified.
