The City of Brentwood Special City Council Meeting on October 19, 2026, focused on the planned transition from the Creekside Park pickleball courts to temporary courts at Sunset Park. Staff said the council had previously set aside $1,726,871 in the General Fund for future capital projects and estimated permanent pickleball facilities could cost roughly $1 million to $1.7 million. Staff also described current operating costs of about $24,000 annually for court opening and closing, plus maintenance costs; the temporary-court work was being handled within existing Public Works, Engineering, and Parks budgets, with staff considering surfacing improvements and shading options. No vendor selection, contract award, or bid approval was discussed.

After public comment and council discussion, the council adopted a resolution directing Creekside courts to close once the temporary Sunset Park courts are ready for public use, and providing direction for a future feasibility study of the Creekside site. The motion passed, with a friendly amendment for staff to look into additional shading options at Sunset Park. Separately, the mayor reported that the City Manager’s resignation and separation agreement had been executed: the city will pay $104,550.13 in settlement compensation and $19,702.22 for accrued unused leave, totaling $124,252.35 gross. The agreement includes a general release of employment-related claims.
