The October 19, 2026 Council on Aging meeting at RCTV Studios covered the ReCal project, senior-center operations, and trust-fund spending. In the project update, members heard that substantial completion was targeted for 2027 and that an FF&E working group had been formed, with Council on Aging representatives invited to participate in furniture selection. The group had unanimously selected a change order for future-proofing and a platform that preserves the option for a divider, without authorizing installation. Staff also reported continuing implementation and reporting problems with the RecTech system; no purchasing decision on that system was made. A motion to allocate Burbank Trust funds, not to exceed $12,000, for weekly community lunches and birthday lunches passed, with the vote recorded as 4–4. The meeting also heard that a $1,000 Burbank Trust-sponsored Tufts lunch-and-learn program would be invoiced for town payment. Bingo cards and sand for seniors were discussed as expenses to be charged to the town budget.
Members discussed whether to change the Burbank Trust’s longstanding interest-only spending approach, but expressed support for keeping the current policy; no change was made. Staff and members also raised questions about departmental budget categories and funds previously returned to the town, with further clarification sought. Other topics included program and service updates, newsletter distribution, community outreach, and approval of the September minutes. No contract award or vendor selection was reported.
