Wadsworth City Council’s 2027 tax budget work session on October 19, 2026 reviewed proposed operating budgets, with no votes or spending actions taken. Public safety budgets included a 4% pay increase for police, fire, and dispatch bargaining units; no new positions are proposed. Police spending includes $36,000 for Flock cameras and continued costs for software, records redaction, training, and vehicle maintenance. The council also reviewed proposed law-enforcement-trust purchases, including DroneSense software and standardized rifle equipment. Fire and EMS capital needs include replacing four stair chairs for about $80,000, turnout gear (about $21,000 each for bunker pants and coats), and other equipment and vehicle-related needs. The budget process will continue at another work session; a budget ordinance is expected for its first reading in November, with no passage requested at that stage.

Other purchasing and contract matters included the planned renewal of the senior center’s county cafe agreement, which expires in the first quarter of 2027, and the airport’s five-year agreement with its fixed-base operator, due to expire at the end of May. Airport plans include constructing an automated weather observing system and continuing to seek ODOT funding for fuel-farm repairs or replacement. The proposed budget also reflects updated airport rates and anticipated full-year hangar rentals. No contract awards or vendor selections were approved at this meeting.
