Board of Health - Regular Meeting, 10-19-26

The McHenry County Board of Health held its regular meeting on October 19, 2026. The board approved a Crystal Lake facility corridor flooring project, with the total project cost not to exceed $68,000. The work was awarded to CCI Flooring and will be funded with remaining ARPA dollars; the amount also covers animal relocation and related construction expenses. The board approved the project by roll-call vote. It also approved two memoranda of understanding: one with Senior Services Associate, Inc. for requested wellness screenings, and one with Turning Point, Inc. to provide vaccines to residents through a mobile clinic; the latter will use existing vaccine stock at no cost.

Administrators reported that the county was preparing its FY2027 budget amid possible department cuts, while the health department had submitted a proposed 0.73% budget increase. Two staffing requests were ranked as higher priority and the on-call stipend request as lower priority; approval remained uncertain. The department also applied for a grant with NAMI to strengthen emergency-response partnerships. Program updates included development of Tableau dashboards to analyze food-inspection violations and guide staff training, with plans for a separate food-establishment portal. No purchase or contract approval was identified for that dashboard work.
