The City of Renton City Council meeting was held October 19, 2026. At the second public hearing on the 2027–2028 biennial budget, staff presented preliminary citywide expenditures of just over $781 million, including $333.4 million for the General Fund, and a preliminary property-tax levy of $27.1 million. Residents commented on budget transparency, service priorities, and funding for community needs; the council took no budget-adoption action at this hearing. The council concurred with the Utilities Committee’s recommendation to approve 2027–2028 water, wastewater, and surface-water rates, King County wastewater treatment charges, utility system development charges, and the Skyway Water and Sewer District wholesale water rate. It also approved Supplement No. 1 to Contract 26251 with Petite, Inc., for the Southwest 43rd Street-to-SR 167 ramps project, in the amount of $290,808.13. Five consent-agenda items were approved, though the transcript does not identify them individually.

Residents urged the city to prioritize replacement of the Renton Rowing Center’s deteriorating wooden dock and repairs to its water and restroom service. The dock is currently shown in the six-year capital improvement plan; speakers asked the city to move it into the two-year plan and fund permit work, but no funding decision was made. The upcoming Finance Committee agenda includes a revised King County waste-reduction and recycling grant agreement and Change Order No. 9 to Contract 2598 with Sarcella Brothers for the airport taxiway alpha rehabilitation project. The council also advanced a childcare-facility development-code ordinance to second reading and adopted an ordinance updating City Clerk duties. Separately, it adopted resolutions opposing ballot initiatives 001 and 638; these votes were not procurement actions.
