At its October 19, 2026 meeting, the City of Stevens Point Airport Commission approved the claims and the Public Service Commission-recommended utility rate changes. The changes include a uniform 29% water-rate increase and a 45% stormwater increase to meet debt-service coverage requirements, effective January 1, alongside a shift from quarterly to monthly billing. Staff said the PSC had declined a request to phase the increases in over three years; pursuing a further challenge would require a contested rate hearing. The commission also heard that the city’s capital improvement budget was expected to go to council that evening and that the fiber project bid the prior month was expected to be awarded separately.
The commission approved awarding the Well 12 building project to Ellis Construction for approximately $3.17 million, with both deduct options and a contingency of up to the statutory 15% for change orders. The discussion also covered possible future relocation of generators under a mechanical contract. Staff reported that one lift-station project was substantially complete and that work on the wastewater-treatment plant’s influent screw pumps was underway.
