The City of Murrieta Library Advisory Commission met on October 19, 2026. Staff reported on the library expansion, which remains under construction: recent work included exterior painting and fire-alarm work, while irrigation, concrete, interior finishes, ceiling tiles, and bathroom partitions were underway. Staff anticipated substantial completion in December and hoped the expansion would be ready by February 2027. The state Building Forward grant partially funding the project was extended through January 31, 2027. Staff also said they would select and order furniture; no costs, vendor selections, contract awards, or related spending approvals were presented.
Staff reported that the library had applied for the 2027 Lunch at the Library grant and that the state had discontinued Zip Books funding, making the past summer the program’s final season under that funding. The Commission reviewed a draft Heritage Room use policy for feedback only, including removing photography and photocopy fees that no longer align with the city’s fee schedule; no policy action was taken. The Commission approved the agenda and consent calendar unanimously, with no procurement-related votes or spending actions identified.
