The Chautauqua County Public Facilities Committee meeting on October 19, 2026, approved several lease, infrastructure, and funding items. The committee approved a six-month lease of 60 parking spaces at the Jamestown airport to FedEx for $800 per month, a $300 monthly increase over the prior rate and a $600 budget increase for the two-month difference. It also approved airport capital plans for Dunkirk and Jamestown, including runway, taxiway, apron, signage, and safety work, as well as planned snow-removal equipment purchases. Staff said most eligible airport project costs may receive 90% federal and 5% state funding, with a 5% local share. A resolution to appoint Matthew Zean to the Airport Commission was not acted on pending a Law Department review of his eligibility under county law.
The committee approved a budget amendment for five standardized Cummins generators for Portland-Pomfret-Dunkirk sewer pump stations 1–5. The lowest bid was $15,930, with an estimated 18–20-week lead time. It also approved a five-year renewable lease for the Public Defender’s Jamestown office, with rent at $16.25 per square foot in 2027 and annual increases of 4.5%; the lease is funded by Indigent Legal Services. Finally, the committee approved acceptance and execution of a $1 million county infrastructure grant for Phase 3 of the Chautauqua Lake sewer extension, supplementing a previously awarded $17.8 million WIIA grant; one committee member voted no. The committee also approved the prior meeting minutes.
