At the October 19, 2026 Oak Park City Council meeting, members unanimously approved several procurement and project-payment items. Public Safety received authorization to use $36,675 from the general fund balance for 70 replacement handguns, with a $275 trade-in credit for each of 69 existing pistols. The purchase was presented as an urgent safety and equipment-compatibility measure following discovery of a holster design deficiency. Council also approved Great Lakes Landscape Design’s final Coolidge corridor landscaping payment of $32,798.76 and a negative change order of $4,156. For the Event Hub project, council approved payment application 16 for $440,511.12 and change order 14 reducing the contract by $1,416,790.50; it also approved the final $60,080 masonry payment to Albaugh Masonry and Steel. The city introduced SeeClickFix as its new resident service-request portal under a five-year agreement approved earlier in the year, replacing the discontinued GovQA product.
Residents and council members raised questions about the Event Hub’s rental and use for a political candidate event. The mayor stated that city facilities are rented on a viewpoint-neutral basis, while members said guidelines for the new venue are still being developed and should be discussed further; no policy change or vote on rental rules occurred. Council also denied an appeal concerning fees for a public-records request. Other discussion included election information and resident concerns about fireworks, streetlights, and utility wires.
